If you found the information useful feel free to buy me a cup. There are a number of ways to build a list. The best way I know it to offer information to your readers in the form of a newsletter. But, of course, you have to build a newsletter first. You can also offer a free report. There are many free reports available and they too, are free.

What it is all about: Its traffic. Its Visitors. Its Clicks. Right, that is what it is about. The reason for a website is to have visitors. Visitors are traffic and they are clicks which equals money. So you have to have a web site for your visitors to visit. Without the traffic of your visitors your website is pretty much worthless. For new people this is kind of like a catch 22 situation. They have no traffic except those in their own email address book. The address book of most new people has very few addresses in it and most of them are relatives and friends. Their book usually has no more than 15 or 20 addresses in it and that is in no way enough to make a website for. That is like the age old question. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Which do you concentrate on first? The traffic or the site. How can you get the traffic? Where does it all come from? You need a lot of traffic, so how do you get it? The Guru's will tell you to buy a list of addresses. That is one way. There are a lot of address list out there that you can buy and freely use. The problem I have with that is simple. How many other new people have purchased that same list of names? How many other people have worn out the list you are about to buy? There are sites which offer a list for your use when you join their program. One such site that I joined offered a large list of opt-in addresses that would immediately be available for my promotions. I never saw any list but I was blasted with many offers for many different deals and programs. All the offers came from other people who had signed up for the same program I had signed for. It seems that I was just another member of a growing list of joiners. All members were sending to addresses that were using the same program. Everybody was prospecting each other in hopes that someone would buy what they offered, not knowing that several other offers for the same thing had arrived in the email box that same day. Now what are the chances that someone sending me an offer is going to buy from me the same offer they just sent me? I would say the chance is not very good. I was expecting a complete list of names and email addresses. Never happened. The price of a list is another thing. How much is that list really worth? How many addresses are still active? I don't know the person who is trying to sell me a list. How do I know it is not a list he or she has already worked. Where did they get the list. I would assume it was once a part of their own list. Am I paying for the rejects? The Guru's will also tell you to use your newsletter subscribers. What subscribers? What newsletter? Remember, you are new. You don't have a newsletter. Not a problem, just write one. That is the problem. As a newbie with no website or your very first site what do you have to write about. What freebies and gifts do you have to include in a newsletter. Why would anyone want to subscribe, they don't know you. They have never heard of your newsletter. That is, if you have discovered how to write one and what to write it about. Does the average newbie have any idea how to go about writing a newsletter? It isn't that easy for someone just starting out. If you do manage to build a newsletter you will need a way to distribute it to those who subscribe. You will need an autoresponder. It is not easy to install an autoresponder into your website or email. Not cheap either. When you first start sending your newsletter you can do it the hard way by sending out one by one. If your newsletter catches on and you start getting subscribers you will need to find a way to automate delivery or lock yourself to your computer everyday. It is the job of the autoresponder to automatically respond to the request of the subscriber who has just found your information on the website you didn't know how to build. The masters of the internet are able to turn their words into traffic. They use each and every word on their pages as tools. Tools that will attract visitors which translates to customers, buyers and sales. You can TURN YOUR WORDS INTO TRAFFIC too.
