All the information in these pages is free for your use but it does get a little stressful. A cup of coffee now and then would be helpful. If you found the information useful feel free to buy me a cup. |
Intimidation: Every day when I open my email I am greeted with a train load of online business propositions. Someone some where is always wanting me to buy something. Usually it is something I have absolutely no interest in but on occasion it is something I may have wondered about at one time or another. Even then I might not be in the mood to buy or ready to buy but what really ticks me off is the way I am approached on the subject. When I get that familiar email that says something like "only 47 spaces left" or "in just a few hours the doors will close forever" it only angers me. When I see it in the subject line of an email it is almost always deleted without a second look. A subject line that says hurry, hurry, hurry or you will loose out on a great deal I see an act of intimidation from the email writer and I don't get intimidated. I taught my kids as they were growing up not to be intimidated by bullies and now I will not be intimidated either. A lot of sites rely on the intimidation factor to move you to make an order and send money. DON'T BE INTIMIDATED.
Another thing that sets me off is being in a website for the purpose of information and find the the cost of the product to be too much, deciding to leave the site only to have a window slide in from the side that says "hold on there buddy, don't leave. We will reduce the cost of the item to 50% off just for you". That tells me two things.
If the price can be reduced so drastically in just a couple of moves is the product really worth investing in. Is there really any value there at all. I have seen reductions of more than 75% in two attempts to leave their site. Another try at intimidation. Intimidation has become a powerful tool for internet sellers. Hurry before they are all gone, not many spaces left, only a few people will be allowed, the doors will close forever, we can reduce the price just for you. All of the above statements are for the purpose of intimidating a prospect into making a purchase. A purchase which will not be in your best interest. Don't let the bullies of cyberspace intimidate you. Beat the intimidation factor. |
